Throughout my entire childhood I took art classes. In high school I was in AP Art and Art History. I was not serious about art until recently when we bought a beach house. I enjoy painting on my weekends down in Morehead City on a rainy or cool day.  I have a pretty cool studio in a sunroom that inspires me.  It is therapy for me and I enjoy every bit of it. I have always painted with acrylic paint. Lately I have tried watercolor and enjoy that as well. My commissioned pieces will be done in acrylic. In high school I remember painting a canvas every night. I also grew up in Morehead and would spend many evenings on the beach just painting. My concentration for AP Art was sunsets.  I now enjoy; sunsets, landscapes, florals, animals, oysters, coral, boats, abstracts and lilly inspired designs. My favorite artist as a child was Georgia O'Keeffe.  I regret not taking concentration classes in portraits.  My prices are fairly reasonable as I do not consider myself as talented as my fellow artistic friends.  Therefore, I am humbled and ever so grateful when asked to paint a commissioned piece for a client.  Most of my canvases for commissioned art are quality & gallery wrapped with a wood backing.  Below are some tips for affordable framing.

framing

Framing makes a piece of art amazing. Most clients want artwork framed, but after investing in a piece of art, the last thing you want to do is spend more money on framing.  My dad used to frame all my work with handmade wood frames that were so cool!  The frame in the picture above was purchased online if you'd like the link just send me a message.  It is one of my "go-to's."  Also, if you are in Greenville, NC, Shenandoah Framing does an amazing job. As far as getting the best bang for your buck, I actually buy some of my open back frames from places like Hobby Lobby and just duct tape the back edges to the frame and add some wire.  With a texture painted canvas it looks best not use glass. Everything is totally up to you!  Goodluck!
